Brian Kaplan is a highly regarded marketing and communications specialist for schools, leading educational organizations and arts-based non-profits. Mr. Kaplan’s strategies have been shown to influence consumers, and with more than 20 years of strategic marketing experience, he recognizes how to define an organization’s distinctions (branding) through the use of marketing and communications, social media, and community programs.
For the past decade, Mr. Kaplan has overseen the marketing and communications programs for several schools, including Rudolf Steiner School (Waldorf), Claremont Preparatory School (progressive), Léman Manhattan School (traditional), Tesseract School (progressive), and The IDEAL School of Manhattan (inclusion).
Prior to working as an administrator for independent schools, Brian Kaplan founded and served as president of Impression PR, a marketing, branding, public relations and events company for ten years. He managed the messaging, communications and strategies for a portfolio of lifestyle, entertainment and consumer clients, including:
- NBC-TV’s Dare to Dream – celebrity golf tournament/two-night concert at Mohegan Sun (aired on 32 NBC stations)
- Maestro Lorin Maazel – Music Director of the NY Philharmonic
- Technology Therapy Group – Rebranded/guided three-year media/marketing campaign, securing 125 placements

Brian Kaplan and his wife, journalist Lambeth Hochwald, were also the brainchild behind parent PLAY, an upscale company for families that executed distinctive events and programs which appealed to both parents and children. The duo developed an innovative approach of connecting premium brands with their key demographics and secured $75,000 in sponsorship deals from Johnson’s, Apple & Eve, FruitaBu, Dale & Thomas Popcorn and Hollandia International by conceptualizing, branding and promoting 75 events, formulating interactive marketing programs and developing a guerrilla marketing teams to build awareness of its speaker series.
Mr. Kaplan began his career in the music industry, where he worked for radio stations WNEW New York and WBCN Boston before transitioning to Sony Music Entertainment, RCA Records, Atlantic Records and N2K Encoded Music in a variety of positions that included radio promotion, marketing, artist development and publicity.
